Greater Manchester named as property hotspot of 2026

According to both Rightmove and Zoopla, Manchester is one of the UK's most searched-for locations on their platforms, proving that the demand for the city is consistently high.

From the data these portals have collected, all signs point to the strongest momentum within the housing market this year will be fueled in areas that are not feeling the affordability stretch as severely, while being balanced by a demand that is strong enough to ensure properties are selling without the need for big reductions in asking prices.

MCR at the top of buyer search lists

Rightmove captures interest at the start of the sales process, before offers are made, which means its data can be used widely as an indicator of future transactions. Across 2025, Manchester was the second most-searched city in the UK on the portal, just falling short behind London.

Demand is holding strong

The market has been incredibly resilient, and with mortgage rates consistently decreasing, meaning affordability is going up, with more and more buyers who paused their buying and selling journeys now returning to the market with more drive than ever.
